Academy of Television Arts & Sciences honors shows from college students nationwide

LOS ANGELES - An animated tale of a man obsessed with his shark costume and a comedy about a missing engagement ring were among the winners of the 29th annual College Television Awards on Saturday.

More than 400 entries were submitted by 176 colleges and universities nationwide to be judged by members of the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences.

Stephen Neary of New York University won in an animation category for "Shark Suit: The Musical." Michelle Tessier of the University of California, Los Angeles, won best children's program for "Camp Bean, All Things Woodsey."

Other winners include:

• Comedy: "The Conservatory," Reed Van Dyk of Cornell University, Ithaca, N.Y.

• Documentary: "Bismillah: In the Name of Allah," Jolene Pinder and Sarah Zaman of the University of Florida, Gainesville, Fla.

• Drama: "The Death Strip," Nicole Haeusser and Ulrich Schwarz of the University of California, Los Angeles.

• Magazine Shows: "Alt.news 26:46," Tim Wilkerson and Sean Brown of Southern Illinois University, Carbondale, Ill.
